NSWCCC Representative Sport

The next level of Parramatta Diocesan Sport is New South Wales Combined Catholic Colleges (NSWCCC). This is the pathway for students in all Catholic Schools in NSW to compete at NSW All Schools level and beyond.



How to Qualify

The way students can represent or access these sports varies greatly. Here is a basic summary for you.

  • Access through PDSSSC Carnivals
    Swimming, Cross Country and Athletics
  • Access through PDSSSC Trials
    Football, Rugby League, Softball (Girls), Tennis (teams event) and Touch
  • Access through teams from individual schools for NSWCCC Knockout Events - MUST Qualify through the PDSSSC Gala Days.
    Year 7/8 and Year 9/10 Boys and Girls Basketball.
    Year 7-10 Boys and Years 7-9 Girls Football, Open Boys and Girls Football.
  • Access through individual entry
    Australian Football, Baseball, Basketball, Canoeing, Cricket, Diving, Golf, Hockey, Netball, Rowing, Rugby Union, Sailing, Softball (Boys), Tennis (Pizzey Cup - singles), Triathlon, Volleyball and Water Polo.

Selections

Teams are selected in the following divisions:

  • Under 15 Boys:
    Students can not turn 16 in the year of the tournament.
    Regional trials are held each year in the form of a regional tournament. Our regional trials are held at Waratah Oval No 4, Rawson Ave, Sutherland. These trials will be on Wednesday 8th May 2019 from 9am to 2.30pm.
  • 15 Girls:
    Students can turn 15 in the year of the tournament.
    Regional trials are held each year in the form of a regional tournament. Our regional trials are held at Waratah Oval No 4, Rawson Ave, Sutherland. These trials will be on Wednesday 1st May 2019 from 9am to 2.30pm.

Trialists are selected from their application form.


Entries close

Monday 29th April, 2019 for the U/15 Girls and
Tuesday 30th April, 2019 for the U/15 Boys.


Pathways

If successful at this trial, they progress to the following pathway:

  • NSW All Schools Boys Australian Football Championships / Selections:
    Tuesday 4th - Thursday 6th June, at Blacktown.

  • NSW All Schools Girls Australian Football  Championships / Selections
    Monday, 3rd June, at Blacktown.

  • School Sport Australia Australian Football  Championships:
    July, 2019 at venue TBA in Tasmania.

Students nominate to participate in the NSW All Schools Canoeing Championships. They must be experienced competitors and must complete a detailed application form available from the Department of Education Website.

There are 5 events contested

  • Slalom
  • Wildwater (Downriver)
  • Wildwater sprints
  • Flatwater sprints
  • Freestyle

These events are contested in the following divisions

  • 12 Years and under
  • 14 Years and under
  • 16 Years and under
  • 17 Years and over - Open

The 2018 NSW All Schools Canoeing Championships are to be held over 4 days in May at the Nymboida Canoe Centre, Nymboida River and Clarence River, Grafton from 25th - 28th May.

Cricket


There are several divisions for Representative Cricket.

Selections for Open Boys

  • Students must be Under 19 and in Year 11 or below as at 1 September in the trialling year

  • U/19 Boys trials for the 2019 season will be held at Wollongong on Tuesday 19th and Wednesday 20th February at Campbelltown.
    Nominations close on Thursday 7th February 2019.

Pathways

After selection in the PDSSSC Football team, the pathway for school football is as follows:

  • NSWCCC Championships / Selections
    Students selected will represent the PDSSSC at the NSWCCC Selection Championships which are held over two days in May each year.

    The 2019 event will be held in Glenwood on the 4th-5th June.
    Players selected in the Girls team will be asked to attend training at Xavier College on Mondays or Wednesdays (to be confirmed) on the 9th, 16th and 23rd, or 7th, 14th and 21st May from 4.00pm to 5.15pm.

Schools can also nominate to play in the NSWCCC Knockout tournaments run across the state. There are 4 divisions for Year 7-9 and Opens Girls as well as Year 7-10 and Open Boys. Teams need to participate in the PDSSSC section of this competition, with the winning teams progressing through to the main draw.

Entries close on March 8th 2019 for the Open divisions.
Entries close on May 3rd 2018 for the Boys Year 7-10 and Girls Year 7-9 divisions.

  • In 2019, the PDSSSC will hold a Girls Open Football Gala Day on Monday 1st April at Jamison Park, Penrith.
    Teams are asked to be at the ground by 8:10am with the first games commencing at 8:30am. Finals should be played by around 2:30pm.
  • In 2019, the PDSSSC will hold a Boys Open Football Gala Day and Selection Day on Monday 1st April at Parker St fields, Penrith.
    Teams are asked to be at the ground by 8:10am with the first games commencing at 8:30am. Finals should be played by around 2:30pm.
  • Congratulations to the boys from Marian Catholic College who wons all 4 divisions in 2018 and represented PDSSSC in the Quarter Finals of the state wide NSWCCC Knockout against the winners of the Wollongong Diocese on Monday 15th August at Sutherland.
  • In 2019, the PDSSSC will hold a Boys Year 7-10 and Girls Year 7-9  Football Gala Day on Monday 27th May at Jamison Park, Penrith for the girls and Parker St, Penrith for the boys.

Individual students may enter the championships by completing nomination forms and submitting them to the convenor of the sport. Students must have a golf handicap and be a member of a Golf Club to participate.

The NSWCCC Golf Tournament will be held at Macquarie Links Golf Course, Macquarie Links on Monday 6th May, 2019.

Entries close on Monday 29th April, 2019.

The 2019 NSW All Schools Golf Tournament will be held in June at Yamba.

Rugby


Selections

PDSSSC Rugby League trials are held each year late in Term 1.

Teams are selected in the following divisions.


Under 15 Boys

Students can not turn 16 in the year of the tournament.
In 2019 the Under 15 trials will be held on Tuesday 12th March 2019 at Heber Park, Hebersham from 9am - 2.30pm.
Nominations close on Friday 22nd February, 2019.

In 2019 a PDSSSC Under 15s Rugby League Gala Day will be held on Tuesday 12th March 2019 in conjunction with the selection trial at Heber Park, Hebersham.

Under 15s Rugby League Draw

The SICC (Sydney Independent Catholic Colleges) Rugby League selection trial is on Wednesday 20th March at Norford Park, Sefton. The selected players, listed below are asked to be there around ;8.30am. Players will be given a pair of socks and a jersey to wear on the day. Please ensure you have shorts and other playing equipment. A draw is attached.

This year's sailing regatta runs from Tues 16th - Sat 20th April, 2019 at Belmont 16ft Sailing Club.

2018 Event Information

I have attached the Notice of Race for your information. Also attached is a consent form that either the Principal or Sport Organiser needs to sign. This form MUST be presented when they turn up to the event. The Sailing Instructions (which are the rules of the event) will be released about 2 weeks prior to the event.

On Tuesday 20th November 2018, the PDSSSC will be holding an Open Girls trial for students at Cumberland Nepean Softball, 50 Stanhope Parkway, Stanhope Gardens from 4pm to 5.30pm.

PDSSSC Teams Championships Selections

To enter you need 4 girls or 4 boys who attend your school to form a team to play a combination of singles and doubles matches.

This event will be held on Tuesday 30th April, 2019
Entries close on Wednesday 3rd April, 2019

The first matches will begin at 8.30am and the event will finish by around 2.30pm with registrations from 8am.

Players wishing to register for the teams event can also register using the online registration form - with the school completing the team list. Click on the link to complete the following online registration form.



Winning teams from Boys and Girls qualify for the NSWCCC Tennis Team Championships which are held each year in June. In 2019, the event will be held on Monday 3rd June.

There are 4 players in each team and they must come from the same school.

Congratulations to Marian Catholic College - Girls and Bede Polding College - Boys who represent Parramatta Diocese at the 2018 NSWCCC Teams Tennis Championships.

The 2019 NSWCCC Teams Tennis event will be held in Bathurst on Monday 3rd June.

Students selected for NSWCCC play at the NSW All Schools Championships held later in the year.

Selections for Pizzey Cup Trials

Tennis has avenues for individual and team events.

Individuals are selected in the following divisions:

  • Opens Boys - Students can be in Year 7 to 12
  • Opens Girls - Students can be in Year 7 to 12

8 boys and 8 girls will be selected to attend Pizzey Cup trials.

Players must have a current Australian ranking (from Junior Development Series) to register.

Pathways

The pathway for school tennis is as follows:

  • NSWCCC Championships / Selections:
    Monday 4th March, 2019 at Barton Park Tennis Centre, Parramatta.
    Players should have a current Australian ranking to participate.
    This is the NSWCCC Pizzey Cup selection event.
    Entries close Monday 25th February, 2019.

  • NSW All Schools Championships / Selections:
    25th - 26th  March at Bathurst

  • School Sport Australia Championships:
    4th - 11th May, 2019 at Memorial Drive Tennis Centre, Adelaide, South Australia.

Selections

Teams are selected in the following divisions:

  • 16 Boys and Girls (15 Years)
    Students can not turn 16 in the year of the tournament

  • Open Boys and Girls
    Students can not turn 19 in the year of the tournament

PDSSSC Touch trials for 2019 will be held on Wednesday 5th March at The Kingsway, Werrington.

Closing date is Wednesday 15th February, 2019.

The teams selected will play at the NSWCCC Touch Championships to be held on Wednesday April 10th at the Tomaree Sporting Complex, Nelson Bay.

Selections

Students nominate to participate in the NSW All Schools Triathlon Championships. These championships include the NSWCCC Triathlon Championships. There are 2 events contested:

Individual (Thursday February 28th)

  • Junior – 400m swim, 10km cycle, 3km run
  • Intermediate – 600m swim, 15km cycle, 4km run
  • Senior – 750m swim, 20km cycle, 5km run

Relays (teams of 3 students from the same school) (Friday March 1st)

  • Junior  - 400m swim, 10km cycle, 3km run
  • Inter/Senior – 400m swim, 15km cycle, 4km run

These events are contested in the following divisions:

  • Juniors – 12, 13, 14 Years (Born in 2007, 2006 or 2005)
  • Intermediates - 15 and 16 Years (Born in 2004 or 2003)
  • Seniors - 17, 18, 19 Years (Born in 2002, 2001 or 2000)

The Championships are held over 2 days in February at the International Regatta Centre, Penrith.
In 2019, the NSW All Schools Triathlon will be held on Thursday 28th (Individual Events) and Friday 1st March (Teams Events)

NSWCCC Selection Trials are held each year for girls in November each year at Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre, Homebush.

In 2018, trials will be held on Monday November 26th at Ryde.

Entries close in November is Thursday 15/11/18 for boys and girls wishing to trial.
