NSWCCC Representative Sport

The next level of Parramatta Diocesan Sport is New South Wales Combined Catholic Colleges (NSWCCC). This is the pathway for students in all Catholic Schools in NSW to compete at NSW All Schools level and beyond.



How to Qualify

The way students can represent or access these sports varies greatly. Here is a basic summary for you.

  • Access through PDSSSC Carnivals
    Swimming, Cross Country and Athletics
  • Access through PDSSSC Trials
    Football, Rugby League, Tennis (teams event) and Touch

  • Access through individual entry
    Australian Football, Baseball, Basketball, Canoeing, Cricket, Diving, Golf, Hockey, Netball, Rowing, Rugby Union, Sailing, Softball, Tennis (Pizzey Cup - singles), Triathlon, Volleyball and Water Polo.
  • Access through teams from individual schools for NSWCCC Knockout Events - MUST Qualify through the PDSSSC Gala Days.
    Year 7/8 and Year 9/10 Boys and Girls Basketball.
    Year 7-10 Boys and Years 7-9 Girls Football, Open Boys and Girls Football.
  • Access through teams from individual schools for other NSWCCC sporting Events
    Cricket - Berg Shield - Years 7-9 and Downie Trophy (Year 12 are not eligible to play in Term 4).
    Hockey - Junior Boys and Girls - Years 7-9, Open Boys and Girls.
  • Water Polo - Junior Girls - Years 7-9 , Open Boys and Girls Football - Years 7-11.

Selections for 2022

Teams are selected in the following divisions:

  • Under 15 Boys:
     Must be 15 years or under as at 31/12, the year of the trial. Born in 2007 or 2008. Students can not turn 16 in the year of the tournament.
    NSWCCC trials are held each year. Our trials are held in Wagga Wagga. These trials will be on Monday 2nd May 2022 from 9am to 2.30pm.
  • 15 Girls:
    Must be 15 years or under as at 31/12, the year of the trial. Born in 2007 or 2008. Students can not turn 16 in the year of the tournament.
    NSWCCC trials are held each year. Our regional trials are held in Wagga Wagga. These trials will be on Tuesday 3rd May 2022 from 9am to 2.30pm.

Players are selected for the trial from their nomination information they submit online through the link below.


Entries close

Tuesday 26th April, 2022 for the U/15 Boys and
Tuesday 26th April, 2022 for the U/15 Girls.


Pathways 

If successful at this trial, they progress to the following pathway:

  • NSW All Schools Boys Australian Football Championships / Selections:
    Monday 30th and/or Tuesday 31st May, at Albury. (TBC)

  • NSW All Schools Girls Australian Football  Championships / Selections :
    Monday 30th and/or Tuesday 31st May, at Albury. (TBC)

  • School Sport Australia Australian Football  Championships: 
  • 23rd July - 30th July, 2021 at Albury, NSW.

General Information

Students nominate to participate in the NSW All Schools Canoeing Championships. They must be experienced competitors and must complete a detailed application form available from the Department of Education Website.

There are 5 events contested

  • Slalom
  • Wildwater (Downriver)
  • Wildwater sprints
  • Flatwater sprints
  • Freestyle

These events are contested in the following divisions

  • 12 Years and under
  • 14 Years and under
  • 16 Years and under
  • 17 Years and over - Open

The 2022 NSW All Schools Canoeing Championships are to be held over 4 days in May at the Nymboida Canoe Centre, Nymboida River and Clarence River, Grafton from Saturday 21st- Tuesday 24th May.

Cricket


There are now 2 divisions for Representative Cricket - Open Boys and Open Girls. There is NO School Sport Pathway anymore for 15 Boys Cricket

  • Selections for 19 Boys Cricket

    • Students must be Under 19 and in Year 11 or below as at 1 September in the trialling year

    • U/19 Boys trials for the 2022 season will be held at Riverwood on Monday 21st and Tuesday 22nd February at Lance Hutchinson Oval, Riverwood.
      Nominations close on Wednesday 2nd February 2022.


  • Students selected for NSWCCC play at the NSW All Schools Championships held at Raby from 22nd - 24th March, 2022.

Pathways

After selection in the PDSSSC Football team, the pathway for school football is as follows:

  • NSWCCC Championships / Selections
    Students selected will represent the PDSSSC at the NSWCCC Selection Championships which are held over two days in May or June each year.

    All players are asked to complete the  NSWCCC Registration online, by following the attached instructions.

    The 2022 event will be held in Valentine Sports Park, Glenwood on the 24th-25th May.
    Players selected in the Girls team will be asked to attend training on Tuesdays (venue to be confirmed) on the 26th April, and the 3rd, 10th and 17th May from 4.30pm to 5.45pm.

  • In 2022, the PDSSSC will hold a Girls Open Football Gala Day on Wednesday 1st June at Jamison Park, Penrith.
    Teams are asked to be at the ground by 8:10am with the first games commencing at 8:30am. Finals should be played by around 2:30pm.
  • In 2022, the PDSSSC will hold a Boys Open Football Gala Day and Selection Day on Wednesday 1st June at Jamison Park, Penrith.

  • Congratulations to the boys from Marian Catholic College and Emmaus Catholic College, and the girls from Marian Catholic College and Xavier College, who represented PDSSSC in the Quarter Finals of the state wide NSWCCC Knockout against the winners of the Wollongong Diocese on Monday 15th August, 2019 at Sutherland.
  • In 2022, the PDSSSC will hold a Boys Year 7-10 and Girls Year 7-9  Football Gala Day on Wednesday 1st June at Jamison Park, Penrith.

Individual students may enter the championships by completing nomination forms and submitting them to the convenor of the sport. Students must have a golf handicap and be a member of a Golf Club to participate.

The NSWCCC Golf Tournament will be held at Macquarie Links Golf Course, Macquarie Links on Monday 21st March, 2022.

Entries close on Friday 25th February, 2022.

The 2022 NSW All Schools Golf Tournament will be held from 20th - 24th June at Yamba.

Held in August each year. In 2022 it will be held at Bathurst for boys and girls on the Tuesday 31st May and Wednesday  1st June. Entries close on Wednesday 5th May, 2022.

Selections

Teams are selected in the following divisions:

15 Years Girls Netball

Students must turn 15 in the year of the tournament. Players must submit individual nominations to be invited for selection trials. Nominations close Tuesday 26th April 2022.

PDSSSC Netball Gala Day
On Wednesday 20th July 2022, the PDSSSC will be holding a Netball Gala Day at Penrith Netball Complex in 3 divisions:

There is also a teams event that individual schools can enter. This is the NSWCCC Netball Championships which is to be held on Tuesday 16th August, 2022 at Penrith.

  • Juniors – Years 7/8

Rugby


Selections

PDSSSC Rugby League trials are held each year late in Term 1.

Teams are selected in the following divisions.

In 2022 the Under 15 trials will be held on Tuesday 8th March 2022 at Heber Park, Hebersham from 9am - 2.30pm.

Open Boys

Students can not turn 19 in the year of the tournament.

In 2022, some Opens trials will be held - The first part of this process will be a paper selection.
Nominations close on Friday 18th February, 2022.

In 2022 a PDSSSC Under 18s Rugby League Selection Day may be held on Tuesday 8th March 2022 at Blacktown Workers Club or the Ponds Stadium, Fyfe Rd, Kellyville Ridge.


PDSSSC Registration Form

NSWCCC hold the CCC Cup in Rugby League each year for Open Boys teams. The date for this event in 2022 is Wednesday 17th August. TBC

Teams qualify through their own district knockouts which are held early each year. Teams need to register by Friday 18th February, 2022 on the CSWNSW Sport Website in the School Competition section..

 

Under 16 Girls

Students MUST turn 15 or 16 in the year of the tournament. They MUST be born in 2006 or 2007.
In 2022 the Under 16 Girls trials will be held on Thursday 5th May 2022 at Whalan Reserve, Whalan from 1.30pm - 3.00pm.
Nominations close on Tuesday 26th April, 2022.
PDSSSC Registration Form

In 2022 a PDSSSC Under 16s Rugby League team will be selected to play Broken Bay Diocese on Tuesday 15th June at a venue TBC.

This team will be selected on Thursday 5th May at Whalan Reserve.

Girls NSWCCC Rugby League Trial - to be held on a date to be confirmed. Teams from Northern Country, Southern Country

and 2 Metropolitan team will trial at this event to select a NSWCCC Under 16 Girls team for 2022.

An NSWCCC Girls U/16 rugby league team will compete against NSWCHS and NSWCIS at Leichhardt Oval on Friday 21st October, 2022 in the inaugural NSW All Schools Girls Rugby League Championships.

  • Under 16 Boys
    Students can not turn 17 in the year of the tournament.
  • Open Boys

  • Girls Rugby 7s - A trial will be held on Wednesday 27th April at Eastwood. More details to be advised.
There are no PDSSSC trials for Rugby Union in 2022. If you are an experienced player and are keen to participate in the NSWCCC Rugby Union trials, follow the instructions below.

Selections

Students nominate to participate in the NSW All Schools Sailing Championships.

This year's sailing regatta runs from Monday 11th - Thursday 14th April, 2022 at Belmont 16ft Sailing Club.

Sailing Event Information 

I have attached the Notice of Race for your information. Also attached is a consent form that either the Principal or Sport Organiser needs to sign. This form MUST be presented when they turn up to the event. The Sailing Instructions (which are the rules of the event) will be released about 2 weeks prior to the event.

 

The event contested is for the Open Division

General Information

  • Open Girls
    Students must be 17 or under as at the 30th June in the year of the tournament.

Open Girls Selections

Students MUST be 17 years old or under as at 30th June in the year of the tournament

   There are no PDSSSC trials for Girls Softball in 2022. If you are an experienced player and are keen to participate in the NSWCCC Girls Softball trials, follow the instructions below.

All players MUST register online with NSWCCC and will be advised if they can attend the NSWCCC Softball trials in 2022. Registrations will open in late 2021

PDSSSC Teams Championships Selections

To enter you need 4 girls or 4 boys who attend your school to form a team to play a combination of singles and doubles matches.

Students from Year 7 to Year 11 are eligible to play at this event. (Year 12 students cannot participate in this event.)

This event will be held on Friday 6th May, 2022 at the Nepean Tennis Centre, Penrith.
Entries close on Thursday 31st March, 2022

The first matches will begin at 8.30am and the event will finish by around 2.30pm with registrations from 8am.

Players wishing to register for the teams event can also register using the online registration form - with the school completing the team list. Click on the link to complete the following online registration form.



Winning teams from Boys and Girls qualify for the NSWCCC Tennis Team Championships which are held each year in June.

In 2022, the event will be held on Monday 30th May.

There are 4 players in each team and they must come from the same school.

Congratulations to Our Lady of Mercy College - Girls and Bede Polding College - Boys who represented Parramatta Diocese at the 2019 NSWCCC Teams Tennis Championships.

In 2021, Marian Catholic College, Kenthurst represented PDSSSC in both the Boys and Girls at this NSWCCC event.

The 2022 NSWCCC Teams Tennis event will be held in Bathurst on Monday 30th May.

The winning team from the NSWCCC Teams Tennis event will represent NSWCCC at the Tennis Australia Teams event later in the year.

Selections for Pizzey Cup Trials

Tennis has avenues for individual and team events.

Individuals are selected in the following divisions:

  • Opens Boys - Students can be in Year 7 to 12
  • Opens Girls - Students can be in Year 7 to 12

8 boys and 8 girls will be selected to attend Pizzey Cup trials.

Players must have a current Australian ranking (from Junior Development Series) to register.

Selections

Teams are selected in the following divisions:

  • 15 Boys and Girls (15 Years)

PDSSSC Touch trials for 2021 will be held on Wednesday 10th March at The Kingsway, Werrington.

Selections

Students nominate to participate in the NSW All Schools Triathlon Championships. These championships include the NSWCCC Triathlon Championships. There are 2 events contested:

Individual - Tuesday 7th April, 2022 
  • Junior – 400m swim, 10km cycle, 3km run
  • Intermediate – 600m swim, 15km cycle, 4km run
  • Senior – 750m swim, 20km cycle, 5km run

Relays (teams of 3 students from the same school) - Friday 8th April, 2022)  

  • Junior  - 400m swim, 10km cycle, 3km run
  • Inter/Senior – 400m swim, 15km cycle, 4km run

These events are contested in the following divisions:

  • Juniors – 12, 13, 14 Years (Born in 2010, 2009 or 2008)
  • Intermediates - 15 and 16 Years (Born in 2007 or 2006)
  • Seniors - 17, 18, 19 Years (Born in 2005, 2004 or 2003)

The Championships are held over 2 days in February at the International Regatta Centre, Penrith.
In 2022, the NSW All Schools Triathlon will be held on Tuesday 7th April (Individual Events) and Friday 8th April (Team Events).

The pathway for Water Polo is:

  • NSWCCC Championships / Selections for 2022 : 17 Years Only (17 and under as at 31/12/22 - Born in 2005-2007)
  • Boys - Monday March 14th, 2022. - 9am-12pm.
  • Girls - Monday March 14th, 2022. - 12.30 - 3.30pm.
    Both trials are at Ryde. Closing Date for both genders is Friday 4th March, 2022. 

  • School Sport Australia Championships:
    There is currently NO School Sport Australia event for Water Polo.
