Thursday Sport - Season 1

The Parramatta Diocese Secondary Schools Sports Council (PDSSSC) provides students with the opportunity to participate in a structured sport competition which is played between schools.


Thursday sport between participating Parramatta Diocesan schools encourages participation, sportsmanship and healthy competition.

See below for information regarding sports offered during Season 1.

Season 1 Sports

Vollyball


Venue

  • Competition 2  - Doyle Park, Parramatta
  • Competition 2 - The Kingsway, Werrington

Divisions

  • Year 7/8 Boys 
  • Year 7/8 Girls 
  • Year 9/10 Boys 
  • Year 9/10 Girls
  • Year 11/12 Boys  
  • Year 11/12 Girls  

Game duration

  • Competition 2 - 2 x 20 minute halves.
  • Competition 2 - games commence at 1.00pm and 1.45pm
  • The juniors play their game first, then followed by the intermediate game.
  • Where Seniors are playing, they could play at either time slot - please check the draws.

Basic Information

  • Players must be attired in their correct school sports uniform.
  • A central hooter sounds to commence the game and to end each half.
  • The team who scores the most points wins the game.
  • A player continues to serve until their team loses a point. Then the other team serves.
  • Players must rotate positions and take turns in serving the ball.

Points Score

  • Win – 3 points
  • Draw – 2 points
  • Loss – 1 point
  • Loss by Forfeit – 0 points

  • Billbergia Indoor Sports Centre, Grand Avenue, Camelia

Divisions

  • Year 7/8 Boys (Competitions 1 and 2)
  • Year 9/10 Boys (Competitions 1 and 2)
  • Year 11/12 Boys (Competitions 1 and 2)

Game duration

  • Competition 1 - 2 x 20 minute halves
  • Competition 1 - games commence at 1.00pm, 1.45pm and 2.30pm.
  • Competition 2 - 2 x 20 minute halves
  • Competition 2 - games commence at 1.00pm and 1.45pm.

Basic Information

  • Players must be attired in correctly numbered singlets.
  • The team who scores the most points wins the game.

Points Score

  • Win – 3 points
  • Draw – 2 points
  • Loss – 1 point
  • Loss by Forfeit – 0 points

Game duration

  • Competition 2
  • 2 x 20 minute halves, with 5 minutes for half-time.
  • Junior games will commence at 1.00pm, with Intermediate games commencing at 1.45pm.

  • Players must be attired in correctly numbered singlets/shirts.
  • The team who scores the most points wins the game.
